audio file player behaviour

It seems that he "Play" parameter of an Audio File Player needs to be turned off and on again between file changes (or else the new file won't play).
Is that how it is supposed to be?
Also, it looks like the player doesn't start if the play gate is turned on before the new file is opened by the system.
