Sudden weird delay from bidule AU with Logic 9

Postby claesbjo » Fri Apr 06, 2012 12:30 pm

Hi, today something weird happened, I have no clue what to to about it so I´ll try here.

All of a sudden I get a delayed signal (around 50ms) when using Bidule Au fx. This happens when I load the plug in, and there is nothing in it, just the default signal path.

Remedy is to (in the plug in window) go to edit>preferences>dsp and change FFT size to something, doesnt´t matter what, and then timing is back to normal.

This only works for 32 bit logic, in 64 bit it doesn´t help.

It needs to be done to every instance, and everytime I boot up a song, so it´s not a practical workaround.

The thing is that it´s working on my other computer with exactly the same softwares, so it´s something system specific for my main computer.

Have uninstalled Bidule, trashed preferences in logic and bidule, still the same problem. Is the fix by changing FFT size giving any clue of whats wrong?

Mac pro Logic 9.1.7 PLogue bidule 0.9722
Best regards

The only known issue that will introduce delay is depending on the buffer size(s) the host uses to call BiduleAU.

Typically anything over 512 or some weird (as a dev) sequence of buffer sizes to fit in with loop mode or some other reason (some hosts will typically use a buffer size of 256 but upon a boundary or loop will start doing things like 1 sample then 255 samples). The biduleAUplugin_LogicPro.log file would log these kind of cases. I'll need to do some checking/debugging but from memory changing dsp settings while in plugin mode would not make the delay go away.
