EWI USB configuration disabled after installing chipsounds

Postby valsolim » Sun Nov 28, 2010 5:44 am

Hello,

I am not sure where should I report this issue but I have run against an annoying interference between chipsounds and Akai EWI USB player. I have been using the Akai EWI USB player standalone to configure my Akai EWI USB controller. However, after installing chipsounds 1.501 on the same system, the EWI USB controller cannot be configured anymore. It seems like the MIDI communication between the application and the controller is broken. I suspect that the new version of the ARIA engine is responsible for that. I have verified this hypothesis by uninstalling both chipsounds and EWI USB software then re-installing the EWI USB alone and it worked fine. Nevertheless, after re-installing chipsounds the EWI configuration stopped working again.

As I wrote, I know this is not a support place for all ARIA-based products, but I think you are the only team who can fix this issue. Neither Akai nor Garritan will do that, I suppose.

EDIT: The same problem has appeared on both my systems, on Windows XP 32bit SP3 as well as on Windows 7 64bit.

Thanks for reply!

You are right on this. EWI USB standalone does use a hack to generate that window which indeed breaks now.
I just recompiled the EWI standalone so that its internal code is in sync with ARIA Engine v.1111

EDIT3: (added MAC version)

Hi, David,

I've just tried your EDIT2 on both systems (XP 32bit and Win7 64bit) and it worked like a charm! I haven't noticed any problems so far...

Wonderful support, many thanks! :-)

Hi thanks again for spotting the issue.
I've added the MAC EWI USB standalone as well.
