Maybe this version of the poly adapter would be required to work with specialised 'Voice creators/extractors'. There could there be a counter input on the Voice creator, or an internal counter in the settings for the adapter that the user sets the Max value for voices.

Nice! Counter: an input or setting to Accum index for each UID, something like that? Maybe min/max for index range?

But how would it generate a specific voice off message? Some kind of value would have to be associated to a voice by the user so that a specific voice off can be generated.

I guess the internal envelope gate could govern that, using the activity output of the group. Would it need a UID if the counter is only accumulating then wrapping round? i dunno, I'm not thinking straight maybe! Need to give some more thought for ideas...You're the don when it comes to this :)

If we are talking about voices being only triggered and their lifetime being governed by an envelope only being dependent on a trigger then yes it should be transparent to the user, I'm more concerned with voices being triggered in a MIDI Note-like fashion with distinct events to turn on or off a voice.

I guess conceptually then, this leads to bigger things/decisions on how best to go about this, if it were to happen... Personally, I'm for the idea of being able to trigger a voice with a load of parameters containing info for pitch, velocity, pan, cutoff, legato, bitcrush dry/wet (whatever). But I appreciate this is not the framework that currently exists in bidule. I guess that this design doesn't gel to well to midi-like events with specific keys, but it would be very useful nevertheless.

Maybe there could be a two-pronged approach to dealing with polyphonic groups... midi-style or round-robin style. Could they coexist happily?

As ever your implementations are thoughtful and refreshingly different, so we're all ears for what you think.

ps. the new update is looking mighty juicy - i think a lot of users' christmases have come at once! thank you
