So, it seems I had a very bad timing with my interest. Is there any any anticipated date?

Cheers,

As I was so impressed with Bidule's features I registered it pretty much as soon as I tried it out last November there's no real need for me to post this. I can't possibly think of any way to improve what is already there but I am curious as to when the next version will come out and what surprises it will bring.
The release numbers are edging pretty close to 1.0. Given that, the delay since the last update and the taking down of the demo version I'm guessing a major update is coming soon.
Is there any news on when this will be and what features will be included?
If not I'll just wait patiently, continue using Bidule as the centrepiece of all my music making and just thank you for making the most impressive piece of music software I think I've ever come across.

Well, I have been browsing around and it is clear that there are a number of exciting developments ahead :-)

I have been looking closely at Supercollider, ChucK, Max, Reaktor as candiates for my needs (audio processing, control, composition, synthesis, analysis), in addition to some hardware options (Nord, Kyma). Bidule is very strong (price/performance/learning curve - wise), but I would really like to try it in my hands, in my environment before devoting more time to it. I am most curious about latency, stability and audio quality (of the bidules and groups). I am a physicist and my hobby is music, audio, computer programming. Supercollider is very deep but the language has some learning curve (nevertheless I would prefer it over Max and Chuck). Bidule on the other hand seems to give instant realization of ideas. It has a nice balance betwwen functionality, flexibility, power and easy of use. The XML based group feature was an excellent idea. I guess that, on the long-term I will need to combine them, but right now the easiest route is Bidule.

BTW, it would be excellent if Bidule could run natively on my DSP hardware box (Metric Halo) :-) The MH platform is maturing as an extremely low-latency DSP platform (with new processing modules in every update), with very high audio qualities.

Yeah, maybe something significant is coming. I hope there will still be a demo version or demo period, so that one does not have to pay for trying it out.

- The next release will not be 1.0
- I hope to have a preliminary version of the next release for both platforms later today, the demo period will be reset in that preliminary version

If you're on OS X, it's already up:

Brotha' Man Seb,

I have downloaded the new Windows version, thank you.
I don't have to pay anything for this?
Are you guys nuts or something?

How about a donate button or PayPal link for your service.
I make a bulk of my income from live performance so I don't need fancy layouts etc. Just a great router to accompany my other great router, Scope DSP.

Surely there's a way to show my appreciatiation as I really am not the forum dwelling type.

Thanks,

JimmyV.

I am sending it now.
It will be under my female backers name.....
Us poor starving musicians have lots of support from the extremely high ratio of women to men I suffer from here in Nevada......

BTW.

Here's a dumb question I am still curious about.

Sorry I am lame with all of the computer jargon, I do find it fascinating but I rarely have time to learn half of the apps I use.
Compostion and performance using Analog synths re routed into my projects and using new MIDI CC devices via foot pedals is still overwhelming me.
Maybe next year I can find out why your app is so popular and the ARIA engine is so effective.
I am told that Dog will Hunt.

Thanks, Seb, for the gui columns and the path input field in the properties menu.

those columns make me wish for much much more in the gui department... but i know that you already know this. that's the big one...

Hi,

I have shamefully not touched Bidule during the last year (new job, new town, new life etc.)... but now I really want to do some stuff again, thus looked for a new version and found this:

Added DSP Adapter feature to wrap groups to run a limited set of bidules at a buffer size of 1 samples (more bidules to be supported, other buffer sizes and sample rates support to come)

Oh yes, you guys really rock, literally :-)

Can't wait to try it out!

Thanks!

Hi, I posted in another thread, but incase you didn't see it, I just wanted to thankyou for the addition of ValueList 2.
It really opens up a lot of options, and makes certain things a lot easier.
Thanks a lot!

Questions about Bidule Update Procedure and Functionality

Postby dmac » Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:59 pm

...I purchased the 'early-bird' special back in March. Haven't used it much since, but am now getting back into composition. The info I wrote down, UID and PW didn't work here, so I registered a name and e-mail for this forum.

My questions:

1. I want to update my version. Do I download both the OS X .9695 and the Bidule AU files and run them separately?

2. I still have the plg_key sent to me originally. Is this required for this update (not even sure what I do with it anyway, is it an executable?)

3. I just started a new project (I use Digital Performer plus VIs), but my Kore2 modules won't tempo sync through Bidule (rewire mode). Does the new version correct this?

4. My machine is a 2 x 2.8 Quad-Core Mac Pro. Does the new version allow addressing of all eight cores?

Thanks,

Dmac

Depends on what you need, if you intent to use only the standalone or the AU then you do not need the other but if your do intend to use both then both are needed.

2. I still have the plg_key sent to me originally. Is this required for this update (not even sure what I do with it anyway, is it an executable?)

This is your license key, if Bidule is already registered with it, you have nothing to do. If it's not already registered you simply need to use that file with the Register Bidule window showing up from the Help menu or the About Plogue Bidule window.

3. I just started a new project (I use Digital Performer plus VIs), but my Kore2 modules won't tempo sync through Bidule (rewire mode). Does the new version correct this?

Nothing tempo syncs by default in Bidule you need to select a sync source for anything requiring sync. In your case you should do that by selecting Bidule ReWire from the Sync dropdown in the toolbar added by Bidule in the Kore2 window.

4. My machine is a 2 x 2.8 Quad-Core Mac Pro. Does the new version allow addressing of all eight cores?

For the standalone version, yes you can manually assign portions of the layouts to 7 different processing threads (making 8 with the main one).
No updates will make the ReWire or plug-in mode work with multiple cores as this is the job of the host.
