Anyone want to walk me through the SDK in OSX

Postby sondod » Fri Apr 03, 2009 5:14 pm

I have NO C++ experience, and while my coding experience lets me understand a little bit of what's going on in the example, I still can't wrap my brain around how it all works. I feel like I just need a simple step by step to get me started.

If you could quickly say what you want to do with the SDK that would help into pointing what changes are needed.

I think the groups I created here would be a good example of something I think a plugin would be good for - http://plpheads.noisepages.com/the-bidu ... bc-groups/

That said I think my biggest hurdle is just walking through the compile process in an OSX environment, not just what the code looks like.

First step would be to install Xcode.

Second step would be to open the project file contained in the SDK in Xcode.

Third step is clicking on the Build icon.

Okay that was painless. I think the issue was that all of the previous times I had tried the default toolbar in XCode has the Build & Go button, but it would always be inactive, which confused me as to what I needed to do in order to get it active to work. The answer of course is to simply build not build and go. Thanks.

The target is a bundle and not an executable so that's why Build & Go is grayed out. You probably only need to add a new custom executable under Executables for Bidule (and also something to copy the compiled bundle into the plugins folder).

Hi sondod, I could not help you get started since I am on Windows only...but now that you are up and running, I would be happy to help if possible. My main interest so far has been on MIDI control & logic, if that is of any use to you.
