Basic Audio Buffer 2 clear issue

Postby jersmi » Fri Feb 12, 2010 2:44 am

It appears that the clear buffer trigger only clears the first two channels on the BAB 2 (complex)?
Haven't done a thorough test...

Sorry -- seems to be a false alarm. On Bidule restart it works okay again.

I'm getting this on Audio Buffer 2 with just two channels. Only the first channel is cleared.

Do you always get this ?

Do you still get sound coming out or not ? (i.e. does it look like it's only the UI not refreshing to show an empty content or the contents is still there)

Back to work on my looper since last year and the clear/reset issue is still a problem- with the Basic Audio Buffer 2 Ex only the left channel clears.

UI only or actual audio contents?

Oops- I was in a hurry. It is the content and UI, i.e. the right channel produces sound and will not clear, and you can still see the content. However, you can write over it with new content, then hit clear, then only the old content remains. This happened a few times last night but it is really rare otherwise. I started to make a looper from scratch, summoning bidules and plugging them together, and when I had the basics ready (rec, play, reset, accum, basic audio buffer 2 ex), I hit play and the play head would not move- so I stuck an audio monitor onto the Accum output (I think) and THEN the play head would move! I recorded some test signal into the buffer, then it wouldn't clear, whether the monitor was plugged in or not. I ended up spending about 5 min. trying to figure out what was wrong then I just scrapped it all. I'll try to replicate it today.... sorry I'm not more exact... it was getting late and I was worn out~

Am I understanding correctly that there was nothing connected downwards to "pull" audio from the BAB?

Correct- my intent was just to look at the buffer contents as a waveform for testing.

"Pull" audio out...? I have a lot to learn- I thought sound was "pushed", either by little demons or Jesus, depending on the kind of music.... this should be in the manual, I think.

"Pull" audio out...?

Bidule uses a pull model (i.e. what is at the bottom ask what is connected upward for its audio/MIDI/etc which does the same, etc), if the output of the BAB is not connected, there is no processing going on in the BAB, playback/record/clear will not happen.

I was wondering about that so in the group I sent you a few mins. ago I plugged the monitor into the channel of the buffer that wouldn't clear and tried clearing it and it wouldn't clear that way either. But maybe every time in the past the right channel wouldn't clear it was because I had unplugged it from the signal chain?

At least one output needs to be connected, doesn't matter which one.
With the group you sent, I always see both channels clear up upon hitting the Send Trigger of Reset, no matter the combination of Play and Rec on/off.

Is there anything I need to do?
