Large preset files slowdown?

Postby CinningBao » Mon May 23, 2011 10:32 am

After creating 28 presets for the Spectral Graph, and copy/paste/group/copy/paste/grouping for a while I noticed that during the copy and paste phases it is taking gradually more and more time to complete.

For example, I copied 8 instances to the buffer, and pasted them - it took around 1 minute to complete the operation, and during that time OSX activitymonitor reported Bidule using up to 108%! (3.06GHz Intelc2duo 4GB ram macbookpro)

I understand the nature of FFT means these files will be very large, which is expected - but I wasn't expecting simple copy/paste tasks to be this consumptive.

Can the handling of preset files, if that is what causes this greedy behaviour, be improved or is this working as designed?

cheers :)

copy+paste does the same thing as saving+loading a file, what is your FFT size setting?
I'll have a look.

FFT size is 512.

The resulting Bidule file which has 29 spectral graphs each with the preset bank I created with 29 presets, is 28MB - the largest Bidule file I ever created!
